Rose Eveing had never been much of a talker. She was always the type to express her feelings out through her emotions and body language. She resulted to smoking at a very young age to help ease the pain of her father’s brutal ways of showing her love. Even though she had a very alarming case of asthma, what was more important to her was the numbing. She was an enigma trapped in a maze. She could never figure out what she wanted more in her life, to be accepted or to be love. Her family surely did not give her the love she needed as well as, she was never accepted in school due to her anger issues and her uncanny personality to always wanting to do the opposite of what people told her. She enjoyed doing more mature things at a very young age such as: following politics or reading vast books on the quantum realm. I have never met such a youth that wanted to grow up so meteoric. She was once tested in school for her IQ and got moved up two grades because of her staggering grade of 154 in just the 3rdgrade. She could never really comprehend the fact that not everyone in this world will like you. She was a diligent perfectionist, but a when it came to criticism, she would become angry and resented herself. She was never good enough in her eyes. Maybe it was from the numbing of too many years. Maybe she became a reflection to every hate or criticism, but somehow managed to let just the stingers in. She would target her hate on her little sister, Allison who was perfect in her father’s eyes. Little miss pageant queen and gymnastic star just by the 1stgrade. Her father was the type to live out his life through his children, but rose wasn’t his child to him. She was but a mere remembrance of her mother that he hated about her. He hated being reminded of her so much that the family had to remove everything about her from their house. It was like life never existed with her. She never thought that she ever had a mother and that her father made up a story about her to make Rose feel sympathy for him. She never gave in. Rose never wanted to be loved by him, but she wanted him to be proud of her for something. But it’s like trying to catch a grasshopper, once you think you have it and you move in closer and closer, it jumps away from you, never to be held a day in its life.

The ending sentence is really good imagery!
This story introduces me to an intelligent young girl who tries to make her father proud. The ending about the grasshopper is a very good imagery, it gives me a better understanding of the girl's feeling about her father.
This is really good! Though it does read as a more expositional piece than a contextual one, the character was really interesting so I was happy to learn about her. The imagery of the comparison between the girl and the grasshopper was a really great way to end the story. Good job Care I really liked it! :)
This story had a lot of truth and wisdom behind it because it was showing how you shouldn't judge somebody before knowing what happens in their life. The kids at school criticized her because she had anger issues but it wasn't her fault. Nobody understands the hardships and struggles behind the mask that you put on to the public
This story is amazing I really enjoyed the last sentence! I think the story tells that all the girl wants is to be loved by her father and since that is not what she is getting she thinks down on herself and relies on other things to make her feel something.
